Almost a decade ago, when my friend and colleague, Dick Johnson, and I began exchanging e-mail tales about our everyday adventures, we found that we definitely had one thing in common—our problem making egg salad. It seems that somehow, whenever either of us made egg salad, some of the eggshell would get mixed in with the rest of the ingredients and we ended up with crunchy egg salad. As if this wasn't bad enough, we were both too frugal to throw away the not-quite-perfect dish, and would eat it, crunch and all. Over time, “Crunchy Egg Salad” became our shorthand for saying life had tossed another curve ball our way, and now we had to make the best of it. I'd like to invite you now to share some of my Crunchy Egg Salad adventures. Some are new, some are from the past. Some are humorous—I have always enjoyed black humor!—and some are serious. And who knows? Maybe you'll share your crunchy egg salad tales with us, too! |
