I can't bring myself to call these “vintage hats” even though they are from the 70s. After all, if I called them “vintage” that would mean I'm also vintage!

And being a young whippersnapper in the 70s, I set my own pace. For those of you reading this who wear hats, you will know exactly what I mean. Hats lend a special mystique to those who wear them. For those of you who don't wear hats—well, it's never too late to start!

I kept my four favorite hats through every move because these were my special hats. The black hat with feathers let me feel sophisticated. The rust hat with crushed velvet band was my fall, Sunday-go-to-meeting hat. The cream-colored hat with studs was my “urban cowgirl” look; this came in handy when I moved from Chicago to a small rural town. And the magenta hat with the black veil….ah, that was my “sexy lady” hat. I almost didn't put this one up for sale!

But hats with brims just don't work well when one sits in a wheelchair. So it's time for someone else to find their own mystique! Perhaps two of them would be suitable for members of the Red Hat Society?
