When I first brought my cocker spaniel, MacDuff, home, he was nine months old. And he was the first dog I'd ever had as an adult. Oh, I grew up with pets, and I had cats, but I'd never had a dog of my own before.

Being new to this business of being a dog owner, before I brought him home I bought a couple of different collars. What did I know about dogs having different size necks? He wasn't too big, I knew that! So I bought three different collars, a small leather one for while he was “young,” and two larger woven ones for him to grow into.

Right.

None of the collars fit, and they weren't returnable, so I tossed them into a drawer. Each time I moved, the entire drawer would get put into a box, and so the collars traveled with me. But now that Mac is gone, and I know I won't be getting another dog, I thought maybe someone else could use these for his or her pet. Someone that had a better idea of what size collar to buy!
